26 Year old Andrew Gruver, aka The Pirate, has etched out a solid place for himself in the highly saturated DJ real estate along the Coastline of California and beyond in just 5 years behind the turntables. Currently, he hosts a future bass monthly called Space Bass – alongside Little John of Raindance infamy – in downtown Santa Cruz, and rocks clubs and festivals up and down the west coast. His sets are fueled by an instinctive ability beyond his years, as he combines all styles of bass music, while staying grounded in his heart and soul – reggae and hip hop. His selections and mixes keep even the most pervasive dub spotter enthralled and will keep any dance floor packed. Hailing from the Northwest, Lotus Drops has been going non-stop with a very enthusiastic energy and a powerful mission. During her younger years she had a mama that didn’t put the guitar down and influences ranging from David Bowie, Bjork and Nine Inch Nails. Lets just say Lotus has always been passionate about the music. Since the age of 15 she has been tweaking with sounds and producing original music on her own and is constantly evolving her style. For the last three years solid she has been delivering high energy performances and relentlessly bringing a new sound to the table. Coining the phrase “Goddess Womp”, Lotus describes her sound as being over the top tribal and extremely bass heavy. Her music can take you into a deep shamanic journey with elevating bass lines that are seemingly transforming to your consciousness. Over the years. music has taken her to Chicago, multiple times to Hawaii and all over the West Coast. Djing along side of FreQ Nasty, EPROM, Lorin Bassnectar, Deru..plus many more. As a part of the upcoming generation of electronic music producers, Psymbionic creates aural experiences that demonstrate the possibility for multi-tempo Bass Music and culture to exist within a range of more divergent influences. Passion and innovation drives this young producer, facilitating his forthcoming and past releases on labels such as Muti Music, MalLabel, and Gravitas Recordings, just to name a few.
With this latest project, John Burcham has been moving bodies and turning heads for several years, playing with acts such as Bassnectar, STS9, Beats Antique, ill.Gates, Excision, EOTO, and Tipper. In addition to festival appearances that include Nocturnal, Wakarusa, and Sonic Bloom, Psymbionic demonstrates heavy involvement both on the stage and behind the scenes at electronic showcases such as his local SXSW in Austin, TX. Burcham’s work informs his repertoire with roots in the furthest reaches of the electronic music scene, and grants him a unique perspective on each crowd through the latest developments of the industry.
In a live show context, Psymbionic confronts mixes that are limited to the scope of the build and release, avoiding an industry epidemic of drop-monotony that overpowers the flow of music. Burcham seeks to prove that there are more powerful influences in moving a crowd than simple anticipation, providing an interwoven dynamic that relies on the strength of his blend, rather than the sole force or familiarity of the apex.

After a highly regarded and reputable 2011 summer festival tour—including a smashing Saturday night headlining set on the “Bamboo Stage” at Lightning in a Bottle, an adrenalized performance at “The Hive” directly after Tipper on Saturday night at The Bounce Festival, and two four-track EP’s that have both landed themselves in the top 5 of Addictech’s yearly charts for 2010 and 2011—Love and Light are opening the flood gates full force with the fall release of their full length album, Galactic Booty Activation. Containing nine tracks of savage, squishy, funkadelic thickness, the album promises to turn heads, move bodies, and fiercely uplift peoples’ state-of-mind on dance floors across the globe. Although this full length album will drop in the fall, the boys have been hard at work in the lab creating another sonically saturated release, planned for the first week of 2012. FreQ Nasty has been a staple name in big room high-energy electronic dance music environments for over a decade and his new releases have expanded his legendary innovations in EDM. With origins forged in four separate nations (Fiji, New Zealand, the UK, and the West Coast of America), FreQ Nasty has leveraged his multicultural background to straddle and often buck the trends in electronic music culture. An innovator in the UK’s ‘Nu-Skool Breaks’ Movement in the early 2000’s, and an early importer of Dubstep to the US in 2006, his current productions range from peaktime bass heavy gut crunchers to deep and melodic dubwise vibes. After his early successes leading to a cover story in UK EDM bible ‘DJ Magazine’, he has collaborated with the likes of Bassnectar, Santigold & Switch and Marty Party, and done official remixes/production for artists including hiphop legend KRS1, Professor Green, Kelis, and Fatboy Slim. Today FreQ Nasty continues to push the boundaries of the dancefloor forward in his music production whilst sharing stages with Bassnectar, Beats Antique, Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, and Tipper among others. Also look for him touring the festival circuit performing with his live band “Dub Kirtan AllStars” and giving his lecture series “The Yoga of Bass”

OK, It’s officially official, with nothing but love and fond memories, BrainStorm is leaving Jaspers and taking the bass over to Hopmonk. It’s been an awesome three years and the Jaspers family will always be near and dear to our hearts. From Christina and Big John, John jr., John Ryan, Joe Wilson, to Shelley, Gina, Raquel, Tantra, Will, Noah, Kyle, Lance, Jesse, Moses…and all the staff we thank you for being part of our wacky experiment, the memories will be forever cherished.

But, change is inevitable and we feel its time to shed our skin. The new home at Hopmonk will give us the opportunity to spread out a bit, to grow and expand, giving us the opportunity to continue to bring you the highest quality and the freshest bass music available.

This thing is all of ours and we want everyone to see this as a collective accomplishment and a validation of the great community we have which holds attendance every wednesday night. As one door closes another one opens, see you all on the other side….

West Coast Bass Maker Nico Luminous is on a mission…His unique brand of “Glitch-a-delic Soul Whomp” fuses melodic progressions, futuristic sound design and organic elements into sexy bass drops. His original Dj sets journey through all tempo ranges and styles from Dubstep, Psychedelic trap and Bouncey Mid-tempo wobble jams. Also a lifelong Beatboxer/MC, Nico uses ableton and his custom effects pedal belt to live loop his beatboxing, lyrics, and keyboards like you’ve never seen or heard before.

Based in Los Angeles, Nico’s high energy performances and releases keep him traveling to a new city or festival every weekend. In 2012 Nico has blazed his trail at events in California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada,Texas, Georgia, Costa Rica, Canada and Mexico.

With Four Ep releases in the last year and a half, Nico has shown his skill in producing diverse styles of music, and his Love for constantly creating new music whenever possible.
